First Wellness Residential Youth Treatment Program - land acknowledgement.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We respectfully acknowledge that the First Wellness Residential Youth Treatment Program is situated on the traditional lands of the Treaty Six Territory and Métis Nation Region three, as well as the Treaty Seven Territory. These lands are rich in history and have been inhabited by Indigenous peoples since time immemorial.

In Treaty Six, we acknowledge and honour the diverse Indigenous peoples who have stewarded this land for generations, including the Cree (Nēhiyawak), Saulteaux (Nakawe), Nakota Sioux (Stoney), Dene (Denesųłı̨né), and Métis peoples.

In Treaty Seven Territory, we also recognize the traditional lands of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut'ina Nation (Sarcee), and the Nakoda (Bearspaw, Chiniki, Goodstoney) Nations (Îyarhe Nakoda). We recognize the enduring connection that Indigenous peoples have to this land, their cultural heritage, and their ongoing contributions to our communities.

As we work towards wellness and healing at the First Wellness, we commit to fostering reconciliation, respect, and understanding with Indigenous peoples. We recognize the importance of listening to and learning from Indigenous perspectives and strive to build meaningful relationships rooted in resect and collaboration.

May we continue to walk together on the path of healing and reconciliation, guided by the wisdom of the land and the teachings of Indigenous people.
